Q: How do these mount to my vehicle's side rail?
A: One of the reasons we wanted to create both universal & vehicle specific options in our roof rack cross bar lineup is because each vehicles mounting specifications are slightly different. Our goal has always been to simplify the selection, installation, & removal processes of each of our roof rack product options.
So while other companies are using different foot pack for each ride & making you decide on bar length, we are optimizing our rack product line to mount to each specific vehicle roof. It ensures a nice, aerodynamic, quiet ride with your secure rack cross bar transporting your load.
Q: How does the teardrop shape load bars compare to roundbars?
A: Listen, we're never going to bash the hard work of outstanding companies like Thule, Yakima, Rhino Rack, & others. it's simply not our style, and we like to think they would do the same for us. They are, quite frankly, outstanding companies & they've build up the reputation they have for a very good reason. Heck, we've even referred some of our customers to Thule, Yakima, & Rhino Rack if we didn't have options we felt were perfect for our own customers.
With that being said, the teardop rack cross bar shape is considerably more aerodynamic and stable when it comes to mounting accessories like sports racks and other products to your rail. If you think about it, a roundbars don't give any method of keeping sports racks & cargo carriers from twisting other than friction. By using a teardrop rack cross bar shape, we solved that problem with simple engineering while allowing you a more aerodynamic load profile and a nice, quiet ride.

Q: Are these roof bars safe at highway speeds?
A: Absolutely! The only thing that could potentially make roof rack cross bars unsafe is if your luggage rack, kayak, canoe, or other cargo isn't properly secured.
To put this into context, tying down a kayak to a kayak carrier on roof rack cross bars can potentially be dangerous if not done correctly. The amount of wind resistance that a kayak experiences at highway speeds is incredibly high. That means that it is absolutely critical that the unit is tied down from all angles. Commonly people will only use a tie-down to secure the unit to the kayak carrier itself. While that certainly needs to happen, it is absolutely critical that the front of the kayak is tied down to the front of the vehicle as well to help fight the wind resistance from lifting the unit off the vehicle.
So to sum it up, these roof rack cross bars are perfectly safe to use at highway speeds, but it requires the user to be smart about securing the cargo first. That isn't just the case for our crossbars though, the same issues can happen with other brands like Thule, Yakima, Rhino Rack, and any other reputable brands.
Q: What kind of coating are on these crossbars?
A: While other brands use a black powder-coat finish to provide the nice look of their products, we actually engineered a different, more permanent route. We use black sand blasting to coat our roof bars to add a clean look on top of your ride.
Q: Why don't you use foot backs, towers, and other mounting points?
A: That's totally a valid question, but the short answer it is the wrong one. The real question that we need to be asking is why other brands like Yakima, Thule, & Rhino Rack do use them. The short answer is that it allows them to have less parts they need to keep in stock, so it makes inventory management significantly easier. There isn't any more or less value or strength to their cross bars because of this, it's simply how they've decided to conduct business.
From our point of view, we found that offering options like that was a bit confusing to customers. Because of that, we decided to handle the details & complexity on our end & make selecting the right crossbar for your vehicle as easy as possible for you. Simple select your vehicle-specific crossbar and the right year range, and you're good to go! No more matching packs or using confusing product selectors.
